Potential causes
- Rotavirus and adenovirus
- Bacterial: C. jejuni and Salmonella sp, E. Coli and Shigella
- Protozoal: G. Lamblia, E. histolytica, Cryptosporidium
- Food poisoning: staphylococcal toxin
Investigation
- No investigation is usually required if < 7 days
- if > 7 days, send Stool MCS
Management
- Invariably a self-limiting problem
- No antibiotic is required
- If antibiotic is required, wait for culture
