Clinical features
- easy bruising
- epistaxis and menorrhagia common
- no systemic illness
- splenomegaly rare
- isolated thrombocytopenia
- other blood cells normal
- normal physical examination
- normal bone marrow with normal or increased megakaryocytic
Murtagh's triad
- bruising + oral bleeding + epistaxis = ITP
Management
- no treatment
- avoid contact sports
- watch and wait
- likely to resolve spontaneously
- wide range of practice within Australia. At Westmead children's hospital, they are more pro-watch and wait and avoid treatment
